Fecundity rate for healthy couples is around 20 to 25% for each month. Pregnancy requires several factors:
- Proper ovulation
- Normal sperm parameters
- Appropriate uterine cavity
- At least one anatomically normal, proper functioning fallopian tube
Normal sexual life
Infertility is described as failure to achieve pregnancy despite unprotected and regular sexual intercourse for a year. This period can be longer for young couples. If woman age is > 35 or there is suspicion of a factor that could lead to infertility, infertility testing may be initiated earlier. Prevalence of infertility is around 10 to 15% for couples in Europe and U.S.A.
