A detailed history and physical examination are mandatory. Required labarotory tests are as follows:
Pap smear:For those women who had every year pap smear until menopause, pap smear may be obtained every 3 years during menopause.
Ultrasonography to assess endometrial thickness and ovaries
Complete blood count
Lipid profile
Liver function tests
Cardiac assessment
TSH: Hipothyroidism is common during menopause
Mammography: Should be performed every year between 40 and 60. Ultrasonography can not replace mammography. Ultrasonography may determine if the lesion is solid or cystic.
Bone mineral density: It is especially important for women with risk factors and for women who do not receive hormone replacement.
